Jean Farrar, who has lectured on nutrition
at Eisenhower Hospital in Rancho Mirage, California, and
the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California, recently
shared some of her health tips with us.
- For a high-protein blender
drink, add a slice of ginger root and a cup of pineapple
juice to any smoothie. The combination of pineapple
juice and ginger detoxifies and cleanses the arteries.
It also improves circulation and digestion.
- Buy the unsalted Gaylord Hauser Spike Seasoning in
your health food store and add it to your food.
- Buy sea kelp whole (Swedish and Norwegian), and grind
it to sprinkle on your food. If you can, buy the North
Atlantic sea kelp granules, since those are superior.
You can find sea kelp in your health food store.
- Raw grain, such as millet, buckwheat and brown rice,
is both delicious and healthy. You can buy a pound each
of buckwheat, millet and brown rice, then boil it overnight
with two slices of ginger root and with the juice of
one lemon. Let the grains harden into a cake that you
can slice and eat with fresh fruits or vegetables. Buckwheat
prevents varicose veins, and millet has more amino acids
than a steak.
- Eating ginger with every meal helps digestion and
eliminates cholesterol from the blood.
